Carrie Werning - Program Director and Trainer

Former intern at Autism Health and Fitness Center, I now manage the programming side of things here at the gym. I graduated with my Bachelors in Exercise and Sport Science from Southern Connecticut State University. I’m also an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer and NCHPAD/ASCM Certified Inclusive Fitness Trainer. I have over 10 years of experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including areas such as direct care, social support, and fitness.

I am so excited to be part of the team here at AHFC and empower others to be the best version of themselves! I love to see people who may not otherwise have the opportunity to exercise get to overcome barriers, surpass their expectations of themselves, and become more healthy, fit, and active. Fun fact about me: I have 2 rescue dogs, who take me out for walks every day. In my free time you can usually find me playing pick-up soccer, rock-climbing, and exploring Connecticut’s state parks and beaches.

I am a Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist (CTRS) and have a Master of Science Degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies. I also hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management and have extensive experience in food manufacturing project management, medical management, and hands-on clinical healthcare. I am CPR and First Aid certified, and adult and adolescent Brain Health First Aid certified. I’m also an Air Force Veteran and former EMT! My interests include fitness, volunteering, community outreach, camping and nature, cats, turtles and tortoises, and creative pursuits. My favorite part of belonging to the AHFC Family is seeing the members obtaining their goals, and - of course - the fun holiday parties!

Megan Sullivan - Front Desk

I am going for my BS in Sport Management with a minor in Marketing at the University of New Haven, expected to graduate in May 2024. My interests are going on walks with my 3 dogs and watching sports in my free time. I started as a volunteer here in 8th grade helping out with summer camp and other events going on at the gym. Now working at the front desk I enjoy coming to work and seeing all of our clients! I love working here to see the clients enjoying their work outs and having fun with their trainers.
