Raising the Bar of Possibilities

Our Mission:

To provide a safe, comfortable and structured environment for empowering individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other special needs to improve their level of physical fitness. We are a place where individuals and their families find comfort, connection and community.

We are so excited to share that Autism Health and Fitness Center will be walking on May 22nd at the ASRC Walk for Autism!

This event will be at the North Haven Fairgrounds. ASRC is a really great organization that shares resources, connects families with programs, and provides opportunities for community inclusion for people with autism. It is free to walk on May 22nd, although we strongly encourage people to donate to ASRC as it is such an amazing organization. Their annual walk for autism is their biggest fundraising event, and it's also a lot of fun! There will be food, entertainment, special showcases, and there will be lots of space!  Come say hello to this year’s celebrity Master of Ceremonies, News 8 Anchor/Reporter Sarah Cody!

Don’t miss this year’s two new components:

  • Inclusive Employment Showcase. Stop by the exhibitors “under the tent” to learn more about resources, processes to follow, and best practices in pursuing employment as a neuro-diverse individual. A great chance to learn about paths to follow, choices, and resources.

  • Recreation Resources Showcase. Exhibitors in recreation, art, music, animal therapies, and so much more to share. Autism Health and Fitness Center will be presenting, so make sure to stop by the tent to see us and participate in a fun fitness demo!

We will have teams walking at both 9:00am and 11:30am. Click the link below to sign up, view AHFC’s team page, or to donate to this wonderful organization. We hope to see many of our fitness family in attendance!

Our Team Page:

Work one on one with a Certified Personal Trainer who has a background in adaptive fitness and working with people with special needs. Everyone has a different goal so every session looks different. No prior experience is necessary. We are an inclusive fitness center so we find ways to adapt movement and exercises to help people become stronger and more confident.

Group Classes are back! Small group fitness classes offer members the opportunity to meet new friends, learn or improve fitness skills, and have some fun. Click here to learn more.

We provide structured, organized and personalized classes within schools. Our adaptive physical education program is designed to meet the needs of students who otherwise have difficulty engaging in physical activity in a traditional PE setting

ASD Fitness Center had the pleasure of having Matt Abati be a part of their team of Trainers. His work was incredibly important to him and he easily developed close bonds with all he worked with. Even while facing adversity, he brought care and attention to his work. Matt had been fighting a serious illness, which took his life on Sunday, September 22nd. We are heartbroken to loose such a bright and wonderful friend and co-worker. In honor of Matt's passion and hard work, his parents, Heather and Steve Abati, have created Love Yours: A Matt Abati Foundation, which will provide financial assistance to kids with autism to attend camp. To donate, make checks payable to Love Yours: A Matt Abati Foundation and mail to: Love Yours, 21 Briarwood Lane, Wallingford, CT 06492 Click here to view the Love Yours website for information on upcoming events. Thank you for sharing the gift of fitness with the special needs community. It's an impactful way to remember our friend Matt.

All ASD Fitness Center members celebrate their year anniversary with a painted handprint and name on the front of the fitness facility.
