OUR TEAM
Adam & Dedra Leapley - Co-founders
Co-Founders Adam and Dedra Leapley founded Autism Health & Fitness Center after discovering the benefits linked between physical fitness and autism.
Carrie W. - Program Director and Trainer
Former intern at Autism Health and Fitness Center, I now manage the programming side of things here at the gym. I graduated with my Bachelors in Exercise and Sport Science from Southern Connecticut State University. I’m also an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer and NCHPAD/ASCM Certified Inclusive Fitness Trainer. I have over 10 years of experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including areas such as direct care, community support, and fitness.
I am so excited to be part of the team here at AHFC and empower others to be the best version of themselves! I love to see people who may not otherwise have the opportunity to exercise get to overcome barriers, surpass their expectations of themselves, and become more healthy, fit, and active. Fun fact about me: I have 2 rescue dogs, who take me out for walks every day. In my free time you can usually find me playing pick-up soccer, hiking, and exploring Connecticut’s state parks and beaches.
Christine C. - Front Desk
I am a Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist (CTRS) and have a Master of Science Degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies. I also hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management and have extensive experience in food manufacturing project management, medical management, and hands-on clinical healthcare. I am CPR and First Aid certified, and adult and adolescent Brain Health First Aid certified. I’m also an Air Force Veteran and former EMT! My interests include fitness, volunteering, community outreach, camping and nature, cats, turtles and tortoises, and creative pursuits. My favorite part of belonging to the AHFC Family is seeing the members obtaining their goals, and - of course - the fun holiday parties!
